I’m Dan Piraro, the creator of the Bizarro newspaper comic, and this is my weekly blog post. The large Sunday comic above is mine, as are all of the non-cartoon comments below.

As a companion to my Sunday comic above, here are some fun facts about penguins. Some are true, some are false. Can you tell which is which? (Answers at the bottom of this post.)
All penguins live within 400 miles of the North Pole. (Not counting those in captivity.)
All members of a given species of penguin look alike, even to each other.
There are more species of penguins than there are of bats.
The fastest penguins can swim more than three times faster than an Olympic gold medalist.
Penguins do not wear tuxedos on Casual Fridays.
Penguins have hollow bones.
Carrying a penguin in your purse will cause it to smell fishy.
If you had a full-size Emperor penguin in your suitcase, a commercial airline would charge you extra to check it.
Some penguins are native to the equator.
Penguins are not trustworthy employees of seafood restaurants.

In his blog post this week, Wayno includes an interesting anecdote and photo about why he illustrated the bow-tied mummy as he did.
It’s never a good sign when your youngsters idolize thieves and murderers.
I confess that I have wished I had a wearable version of those contraptions.
Or maybe that’s just her story…
