I’m Dan Piraro, the creator of the Bizarro newspaper comic, and this is my weekly blog post. The large Sunday Bizarro comic above is mine, as are the comments below. The past week’s Monday-Saturday Bizarro comics that follow were written and drawn by my partner Wayno. For more fun, check out Wayno’s weekly blog post.

And here’s this week’s ANSWER KEY to my Sunday comic’s Secret Symbols.

Welcome, Jazz Pickles, and happy approaching holidays or whatever.

It’s that time of year when, because the newspaper industry has gone the way of wheels carved from stone, our various business partners are having holiday sales and the like. These days, we cartoonists who did not become as rich as Thurston Howell, III depend on these year-end instruments of finance to make a living. Wayno and I don’t like being salesmen, but we like living out of cardboard boxes even less, so…

QART is an online company that sells high-quality, archival, signed-and-numbered, limited prints of my cartoons, and some of my original pen & ink panels. They’re having an auction right now, so it’s a great chance to nab a nice gift for yourself or others at a big discount. (I’ve personally signed every one of these products, so this is your chance to own a trace of my DNA!)

Auction ends the night of Dec 14.

Next is the Bizarro shop at ComicsKingdom. They’re having a holiday sale (you can tell by the annoying falling snow animation!) with big discounts. Don’t miss our 2026 calendar full of cat and dog cartoons. (If you don’t like dogs or cats, you may be on the wrong planet.)

Finally, because I’m not the selfish, money-grubbing asshole one of my ex-wives accused me of being, here’s a recommendation for something free that has nothing to do with me!

I’m fortunate to be the friend of a talented stand-up comic called Myq Kaplan. He has a new, one-hour comedy special on YouTube that you can watch for FREE! I love neurodivergent, authentic eccentrics (NAEs), and Myq certainly qualifies as that, and so much more. I love the way his strange mind twists words and concepts around corners, and through windows you’d not have imagined they would fit. He’s also just about the sweetest guy you’ll ever see on a stage, so do your heart a favor, give his comedy a listen, and discover how much he loves his girlfriend, Rini. He even named this special after her.

And don’t miss this funny, weird book he wrote, and another talented NAE, Ramin Nazer, illustrated. (I’m not yet friends with Ramin, but I hope to be one day!)

The day’s business being concluded, let’s toddle off to see what chuckledom Wayno has thrust upon us via this week’s Bizarro cartoons…

Any good construction worker pays close attention to angles.

Why aren’t they called palindromordnilaps?

Which is also what a good stand-up comic does.

I have to confess I’ve rarely been so unattracted to an entertainment genre.

He’s also very good at retrieving things that have fallen into that tiny slot between your car seat and the center console.

There’s that wheel of stone I referenced in my opening. I suppose it’s no coincidence that physical newspapers have so often been used as kindling.

That’s the whole wad of taffy for now, Bizarro Jazz Pickles. We love you for bothering to drop by. If you like that we’re doing this for free, please consider helping us keep it that way via the links below, or the ones I mentioned above. We’ll consider it an end-of-year gift to us from our favorite person ever!

That fun Bizarro swag from ComicsKingdom I mentioned above. (I’m sorry to report that because greedy capitalist assholes have taken over the world, international shipping costs have become absurd, so they may not ship outside the US.)
