Snowflakes

I’m Dan Piraro, the creator of the Bizarro newspaper comic. Each week, I post my Sunday Bizarro comic, then a short essay, then the past week’s Monday-Saturday Bizarro comics written and drawn by my partner, Wayno. Here’s Wayno’s weekly blog post. I highly recommend it.

There are only 3 Secret Symbols in this week’s Sunday comic (above) and only one of them is tricky to spot, but if you need it, here’s the ANSWER KEY.

Hola, Jazz Pickles. Since much of the Bizarro-reading world is still baking in the heat of another routine climate-change summer, or, as some Republicans are still calling it, “an extremely convincing and deadly hoax,” I thought you might enjoy a refreshing snow cartoon.

The title panel at the top of this page is one of my favorites and is titled “Snow Henge.” The comic below it is self-explanatory so I’ll leave you to consider it without my comments. I’m trying hard to resist another rant.

Changing topics, the Queen of England died this week and that is something no one has been able to say truthfully in 121 years. I won’t say it is sad because she was 96, after all, and that’s what all of us do when we get old enough. She was well beyond life expectancy for her generation, or, as the British say, her “expiry” date. I’m not a fan of the monarchy in general but Olive Oyl and I have been enjoying that TV series, The Crown.

So while Elizabeth being dead isn’t “fun” news, the fact that her son took over is fun because in the relatively new language, Spanglish, that makes him Rey Charles. (“Rey” is Spanish for “king.”) Thanks to our friends, John and Meryl, for pointing that out the other night.

To welcome Rey Charles to the throne, I’ll be listening to Ray Charles while I take a few minutes to peruse Wayno’s Bizarro cartoons from the week…

He’ll probably get hammered while he waits.

They’re opening for the Honeydrippers.

I never know how to act when I meet a yoga wolf.

Surely there is someone in the U.S. who gives a class on this.

Have you ever known a person who pronounces robot, “RO-but?” It’s unsettling.

BTW: Don’t miss the album cover satire.

But it does not explain why he scraped the paint off the car.

That’s the end of this week’s cartoon happy hour, Jazz Pickles. Thanks for hanging around until they ran out of tequila. If you’ve enjoyed this read and appreciate that we don’t have paywalls or ads, please consider helping us keep it this way via one of the links below. We’ll thank you by name with our actual mouths.

Until next time, keep your hairdryer locked away where frosty fingers can’t reach it.
